Things to Do

Situated at Sykes Lane, Empingham, the Rutland Water Butterfly Farm & Aquatic Centre is the largest tropical house in the area and will provide hours of entertainment for nature enthusiasts, whatever the weather. 

There is over 5000 square feet of jungle paradise full of free flying multicoloured butterflies.  There are also parrots, and lots of other tropical birds.  Many of the creatures at the centre are allowed to roam freely in the lush vegetation, so watch out for Iguana lizards and Giant African Land Snails.

There’s also a Twilight Zone to explore, which is home to lots of mini beasts and insects.
 
An amazing fresh water aquaria houses some of the indigenous fish of the area.

Rutland Water Butterfly Farm & Aquatic Centre is open every day until the end of October and caters well for group and school visits.  All groups receive the services of a dedicated Entomologist.  Further information can be obtained by contacting the centre directly on 01780 460515.
