Footpath Cottage is a Grade II listed building, dating from around 1850 and situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Edith Weston, on the south shore of Rutland Water. Constructed of local stone with a Collyweston slate roof, the cottage comprises sitting room, bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle and kitchen; two good sized bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other a double bed.

Modernised throughout, Footpath Cottage has all the facilities you would expect for modern living, yet has retained its character with a wood beamed ceiling in the sitting room and inglenook fireplace housing a wood burning stove. It has a fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and microwave oven. TV and DVD player along with radio/CD player are also provided. All linen is supplied. For sailors and fly fishers there are separate drying facilities. There is an additional freezer to store any trout caught and lockable space for bicycles.

The village pub The Wheatsheaf is 2 minutes walk away and our well stocked Village Shop and Post Office is only 3 minutes walk. The Wheatsheaf serves a varied menu of good home-cooked food at reasonable prices with a selection of local real ales and wines by the glass or bottle.

Prices £300 to £450 per week. We can supply a starter pack for your arrival or to cater for that special occasion. Tell us your requirements and we'll do our utmost to provide everything you need throughout your stay.

Fly Fishing - If you are thinking of fly fishing, the Fishing Lodge is only 5 minutes walk. Malcolm March, joint proprietor of Footpath Cottage, holds an Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors qualification (APGAI). A keen fly fisher, he is more than happy to help with local knowledge and advice. He caters for all levels of experience for accompanied fishing or instruction, he will be happy to discuss your requirements and provide a personally tailored package.
