With one of the largest reservoirs in Europe at its heart, water sports are a key leisure activity in Rutland.  In fact, Rutland Water provides some excellent facilities to encourage would-be sailors out onto the water.

Rutland Sailing Club offers an experience similar to estuary sailing, but without the tides.  The Club is set in 13 acres on the South shore of Rutland Water and has impressive facilities including seven concrete slipways, with four pontoons and connecting walkways, making launch and recovery of keelboats and cruisers easy.  The Club organises races, Open Meetings, tuition to RYA standards and lots more.  Contact the sailing club on 01780 720292.
