Drive a Steam Train!

Has it been your childhood dream to be a steam train driver? Well if so, get your flat cap at the ready as you can have a steam train driving experience at Rocks by Rail: The Living Ironstone Museum (formerly Rutland Railway Museum.) Digger Driver Experience

For a unique gift experience, spend half a day with a qualified instructor learning to drive a 1950's Ruston Bucyrus 22RB face shovel and 22RB dragline. Then test your skills by digging a quarry face for real! Half day experience only £100.

Learn to Fly Fish

Rutland Fly Fishing AdventuresA great experience day on Rutland Water, fly fishing for beginners or for those with experience wishing to improve. Rutland Flyfishing Adventures won a Silver award for Best Tourism Experience in the East Midlands 2010 and offers fun coaching with local fisherman Rob Waddington. Available for individuals and groups from Rob's Lodge by the shores of Rutland Water, this makes a great hen/stag experience! 4* accommodation is also available from Rob's Lakeside B&B

Horse Riding Experiences

Horse Riding at SomerbyWhat better way to enjoy the English countryside, than on top of a horse?! This is an ideal experience for those who are unable to keep a horse themselves, but would love the chance to go riding. 

From half hour lessons, to two hour hacking experiences, or even whole day rides - these are all available with the comfort of having a fully qualified instructor on hand. Children's Pony Days are put on through out the year - these are great fun, and provide a mix of riding and stable management.
