Sailing With one of the largest reservoirs in Europe at its heart, water sports are a key leisure activity in Rutland.  In fact, Rutland Water provides some excellent facilities to encourage would-be sailors out onto the water.

Rutland Sailing Club offers an experience similar to estuary sailing, but without the tides.  The Club is set in 13 acres on the South shore of Rutland Water and has impressive facilities including seven concrete slipways, with four pontoons and connecting walkways, making launch and recovery of keelboats and cruisers easy.  The Club organises races, Open Meetings, tuition to RYA standards and lots more.  Contact the sailing club on 01780 720292. 

Rutland 8 Yachts, based on the south shore of Rutland Water at Edith Weston, offers visitors the unique opportunity to join the crew aboard the skippered yacht, Summer Breeze II. One and 2 hour Sailing experiences are suitable for sailors and non sailors, 7 days a week. New this season are Twilight Cruises on Thursday evenings, an ideal opportunity to relax and enjoy Rutland Water at its most idyllic. Rutland Sailability, located at Rutland Sailing Club, provide training, support and equipment to enable people with disabilities to enjoy the challenge of this physical activity in a safe, welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
