Britain’s only one-day race on the UCI EuropeTour calendar will be staged in Rutland again this April.

Billed as “Britain’s Paris Roubaix”, the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic will be held on Sunday April 29. The 105-mile race from Oakham to Melton takes in rough rural roads in an echo of the challenging conditions of l’enfer du Nord, and last year attracted 10 overseas teams in a race won by the Australian, Zak Dempster.

The East Midlands International CiCLE Classic is Britain's most unique, challenging and spectacular Elite single day cycle road race. Taking competitors where no other British race has before; on and off road for 100 miles; providing a course as near to a continental classic as it is possible to create within Britain.

The event begins in Market Place, Oakham and finishes in Melton Mowbray.

Oakham will also have an Italian Market in The Market Place from 9am to 5pm and there will be a Craft & Gift Fayre at Victoria Hall, Oakham, form 10am.
