Begin each day with the most important meal – breakfast! If you’ve stayed in one of our guesthouses or hotels, this will be well taken care of, or you can pop to our favourite Hambleton Bakery to pick up some traditionally baked goods.

Here’s a suggestion of how to continue your 48 hours in Rutland on an action-packed Mindfulness break:

    Day 1:

Kick-start your day by giving the kids (and yourself!) a thorough soaking at Aqua Park Rutland; featuring a collection of big impact water obstacles, it promises fun for adults and children alike whilst experiencing some fresh air and beautiful surroundings. Tickets are sold as one hour slots and wetsuit hire is available.

Just a five minute walk away you will find Rutland Cycling with an array of bikes to hire to allow you to continue your day with a spot of cycling. Cycling around Rutland is a real rural delight. There are spectacular views to enjoy as you pedal through the countryside, building up an appetite for refreshment at the pubs and cafes en route.

Rutland Cycling has hired over one million bikes over the years, so you can rest assured that you’re in safe hands. Even those who aren’t in peak physical condition can enjoy the freedom and fresh air of cycling by hiring one of Rutland Cycling’s fleet of electrical bikes. Cycle your way around Rutland Water and stop off for a bite to eat at one of the many eateries located close by including The Horse and Jockey before heading back to your accommodation.

    Day 2:

The health benefits of cold-water immersion have been widely publicized; it’s perhaps no coincidence that the popularity of open water swimming has skyrocketed recently. What could be more immersive and a better way to start your day than swimming in the open air?! Open water swimming is best enjoyed as part of a properly organized group. Before taking your first al fresco dip, get in touch with Inspire2tri CIC; this friendly team provides accessible, safe and enjoyable open water swimming at Whitwell in partnership with Anglian Water.

To wind down after your exhilarating morning, relax by playing a round of golf. Golf provides all the benefits of fresh air and exercise, along with the chance to appreciate picturesque countryside. Rutland has plenty of excellent courses including: Rutland Water Golf Course and Greetham Valley Golf Course both with dining facilities for you to grab a bite to eat beforehand.

In the evening, enjoy a fun, hands-on BBQ cooking class in a purpose-built grill school with former England cricketer Matthew Hoggard at Hoggy’s Grill. Create the perfect burger or cook up a three-course feast on the coals with a variety of state-of-the-art grills at your disposal just in time for your evening meal before heading home!
