Why us? Situated in the village of Cottesmore and close to Rutland Water is a 17th century picture perfect thatched cottage. With original features such as exposed beams, a newly installed wood burning stove and ample living space, the cottage provides accommodation for up to 5 people. We’ve enjoyed hearing the new reviews about, places they’ve visited, relaxing experiences, enjoying all weathers and sometimes…hedgehogs (see reviews).
Dog friendly! We welcome up to two well-behaved dogs at the Bee Cottage. Kindly note, this will cost £25 / dog. Rutland is ideal for dog-friendly visits with plenty of dog walks, including enclosed off-lead areas away from livestock, and lots of pet-friendly places to visit. And if you ever fancy a pleasant meal out, we can suggest a few dog sitters you can book.
Welcome package. In strong support of locate businesses, guests are welcomed to the cottage with a supply of locally grounded coffee from Two Chimps Coffee for the cafetiere and some locally baked treats from either Hambleton Bakery, The Larder Oakham or Lily and Honey Bakery”
Wood Burner. A free bag of wood for the wood-burner will also help to keep you cosy during the winter, we ensure this is swept twice a year to keep you cosy and safe the our thatched cottage.
Layout. The cottage has a deceptively large living area, with separate seating around a second decorative stone fireplace as well as a tucked away reading corner and a conservatory in which to enjoy a cup of tea. The dining room nestles between the kitchen, lounge and conservatory – bright and airy for leisurely breakfasts and perfectly practical for having an evening meal for up to 6 people. Upstairs, there are two beautifully presented bedrooms with crisp linens and fluffy towels. The third bedroom is situated downstairs with direct access to the garden.
Thatched Cottage. The cottage is situated in a quiet lane only a stone’s throw away from the Sun Inn village pub and shop. With plenty of activities to keep visitors of all ages busy around Rutland Water, the Bee Cottage Rutland is the ideal place where visitors can relax and put their feet up after busy days exploring England’s smallest county.

Our names are Steve & Hanri – we have hired out two of our previous homes as holiday lets, but the Bee Cottage is our first dedicated holiday let, and by far our greatest renovation project.
Having just completed a MSc in Sustainability, Steve enjoys making furniture from reclaimed wood (examples can be seen in the Master bedroom headboard & side tables, the TV table, coffee table and some shelves around the cottage). Hanri is a Dress Pattern Designer and local Yoga teacher.
Steve and Hanri enjoy walks with our rescue dog Chunk.

Parking is available on the gravel driveway to the left of the cottage, or if you’d prefer free on-street parking is also available immeadiately outside the cottage.
