Situated in the village of Cottesmore and only 5 minutes away from Rutland Water is a 17th century picture perfect thatched cottage. With original features such as exposed beams, a newly installed wood burning stove and ample living space, the cottage provides accommodation for up to 5 people.
Dog friendly! We welcome up to two well-behaved dogs at the Bee Cottage. Rutland is ideal for dog-friendly visits with plenty of dog walks, including enclosed off-lead areas away from livestock, and lots of pet-friendly places to visit.
Complimentary welcome gift. Guests are welcomed to the cottage with a supply of locally grounded coffee for the cafetiere, tea and locally baked biscuits. A free bag of wood for the wood-burner will also help to keep you cosy.
The cottage has a deceptively large living area, with separate seating around a second decorative stone fireplace as well as a tucked away reading corner and a conservatory in which to enjoy a cup of tea. The dining room nestles between the kitchen, lounge and conservatory – bright and airy for leisurely breakfasts and perfectly practical for having an evening meal for up to 6 people.
Upstairs, there are two beautifully presented bedrooms with crisp linens and fluffy towels. The third bedroom is situated downstairs with direct access to the garden.
The cottage is situated in a quiet lane only a stone’s throw away from the village pub and shop. With plenty of activities to keep visitors of all ages busy around Rutland Water, the Bee Cottage Rutland is the ideal place where visitors can relax and put their feet up after busy days exploring England’s smallest county.

We welcome guests to connect with us on their stay.
Our names are Steve & Hanri – we have hired out two of our previous homes as holiday lets, but the Bee Cottage is our first dedicated holiday let, and by far our greatest renovation project.
Having just completed a MSc in Sustainability, Steve enjoys making furniture from reclaimed wood (examples can be seen in the Master bedroom headboard & side tables, the TV table, coffee table and some shelves around the cottage). Hanri is a dance photographer, a children’s book Art Director and Yoga teacher (she teaches yoga on Tuesday nights 7pm in Oakham at the Hotbox – do come along if you fancy a stretch).
Steve and Hanri enjoy walks with our rescue dog chunk and keeping fitting at CrossFit in Oakham.
Our One Person Green Team.
We are delighted to announce a new member to our team – Martina. Martina is our new gardener. She”ll be visiting the Bee Cottage Rutland by making the most of our front and back garden area. Martina has a honest passion for gardening and she’ll be maintaining our foliage within a green and white theme. To keep in sync with the bee’s, Martina will be bringing the flowers and plants back to their full pollen-potential!

Parking is available on the gravel driveway to the left of the cottage, or if you’d prefer free on-street parking is also available immeadiately outside the cottage.
