About

Peterborough Cathedral is widely recognised as one of the finest Norman cathedrals in England. It is the burial place of Katharine of Aragon and also Mary, Queen of Scots, who was later reinterred at Westminster Abbey.

Highlights tours with a knowledgeable guide are usually available at 11.00am and 2.00pm, Monday to Saturday, but check online before you arrive. There is also a lively programme of concerts and other events which are listed on the website.

The Cathedral is a great place to visit for all ages; the Monks, Mischief & Marauders activity book is packed full of fun facts and puzzles about the Cathedral’s past, is available to buy.  You can also download a free interactive app, with augmented reality animations for use on mobile phones and tablets. Just search for Gamar Ltd in your app store, then select the Peterborough Cathedral Trail.

The Cathedral is a Visit England Quality Assured Visitor Attraction has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor.

There has been a place of Christian worship on this site since the 7th century and the Cathedral’s core function as a centre of Christian mission and ministry continues to this day. There are daily services, morning and evening, and during term time the Cathedral Choir sings Evensong at 5.30pm from Monday to Friday, and 3.30pm on Sundays. This is a wonderful time of contemplation at the end of the day and visitors are warmly welcome to sit and listen. For details see www.peterborough-cathedral.org.uk/newsarticle.aspx/41/evensong

Opening hours for visitors are usually 9.00am to 5.00pm from Monday to Saturday, and 12.00 noon to 3.00pm on Sunday.
