Situated in the stunning parkland surrounding Burghley House, this hugely popular equestrian and social event draws visitors from all around the world.
The competition is called a Three Day Event with three stages taking place, rather confusingly, over four days: Dressage on Thursday and Friday, Cross Country on Saturday and Show Jumping on Sunday. It is a comprehensive test of all-round horsemanship, and involves almost every activity of which the horse is capable. Every competitor must complete each section and their overall score provides the final placing.
There is also many avenues of stands offering country clothing, crafts and food, plus much more.

The Event is clearly sign posted from every direction. To avoid delays on Saturday, you are strongly advised to arrive early. Once you are in the vicinity of the park, there are signs directing you to the correct entrance for your pass.
Members' car pass: please aim for Gate 1: Pilsgate Lodge on Barnack Road (B1443).
Public car pass: please aim for Gate 4: Station Gate entrance (B1443) and Gate 5: Bottle Lodges entrance (B1081).
NB Once in the vicinity of the Park, the Police or the Traffic Management company may re-direct you to another entrance.
Public Transport Directions
The train line to Stamford runs from Birmingham, Leicester, Nuneaton or Peterborough. It takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to walk into the Event from Stamford station.
